Major lancaster work day on FM212

Damn.
Sorry chaps I dropped the ball on this one. Windsor lanc is having a major work day today and I forgot to post to you all about it. They are re-inhibiting all four engines and the aircraft is having a major inspection by an aircraft structural engineer. All of the engine cowlings are to be removed as well as the panels covering the outer wing section joints. Her flaps will come down and her bombdoors and gear doors opened up for the inspection. Normally I attend these days but due to work commitments I was unable to. I hope to receive some pics of the work involved especially a good one of her with her full bombdoors down as well as the flaps and gear doors.
Cheers,
Peter

Update

Hi Chaps got a bit of news from Saturdays work day:

Our maintenance day went smoothly with about 30 volunteers in attendance and everyone enthusiastic about the Lanc. Everything went along just fine, and the weather was terrific. The airframe was also inspected by an aviation structural expert today who will write a report on his findings. At present there is nothing to report on the progress of saving Lanc 212 as the new committee (which will make recommendations to Windsor City Council) will have it’s first meeting after the structural report is delivered.

Sadly when I spoke with the Crew chief on the phone, he told me that the inspectors found another crack in the main undercarriage to engine mount on the stbd inner engine. That makes the count of cracks as 2 on this side of the aircraft. The were able to get all four engines inhibited and I am waiting to recieve the pictures of her with everything off and hanging
* except the wheels…too risky!

Yes they had great weather there yesterday which makes a first. Last engine day that I helped them out with it was very hot and humid. I will post pics and a report when I hear from the boss.
