Major life or death decision

Coke or Pepsi? That’s the age-old question Delta faces now that it has acquired Northwest. Delta, of course, currently serves Coke while Northwest is a Pepsi airline. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that –- for now –- each airline will stick with its current soft drink “until a final determination has been made on a single beverage provider,” according to a company memo issued last week. “We’re having conversations with both,” Delta vice president of marketing Tim Mapes tells the paper. “There are contracts in place with each of the two entities that have got to be addressed… . There definitely will be financial considerations that we will be taking into account.”

However, it was just last year that Delta president Ed Bastian was quoted as saying: “It’ll be Coke. That’s not a hard one.” Coke, like Delta, is headquartered in Atlanta and both companies’ corporate identities are strongly liked with their hometown city. Still, despite what would seem to be an advantage for Coke, the Journal-Constitution writes “the practical matter of breaking Northwest’s contract with Pepsi may make the decision more difficult than simply a matter of taste β€” or hometown connections.” Adding to the mix, by the way, is that Bastian is a former Pepsi executive, according to the Journal-Constitution. No word when a final decision might be made.

Pepsi is a preference for me, but if I’m in the mood for a fizzy soft drink it’s Irn Bru or Root Beer for me. Or cloudy lemonade.

Coke is better for cooking than Pepsi though. Chicken Roasted in Coke is a Joy. As is Beer-Can duck.

If you ever get to the Antipodes you’ve just got to try a Bundy GB…it has to be the most thirst quenching refreshing drink i’ve ever tried…sensational on a hot Summers day!!!

although having said that i used to drink Coke everday when i was younger …but that was when Coke was the real thing in glass bottles!!!

Things do taste better in bottles! Would much rather prefer a cold beer from a glass bottle than from a can.

They’re both caffeine and sugar laden rubbish…always opt for a nice sparkling wine or a wine spritzer…Coke will eat your insides away if it doesn’t give you Diabetes first…although having said that i used to drink Coke everday when i was younger …but that was when Coke was the real thing in glass bottles!!!

Given the choice, I’d have to say Heineken.

Then again, I would say that! πŸ˜€

I’ve worked in a bar where Pepsi was served. 95% of the time the customer would simply ask for a ‘coke’ and for licencing/branding reasons etc we would have to ask if “Pepsi was ok?” Again, around 90-95% of customers would simply say “Yeah, that’s fine,”

Yeah that’s me…..:D.

I don’t mind to be honest and would be quite happy with either, I think you’ll find going into a restaurant or bar etc sometimes that you’ll ask for Coke and you’ll see them pour a glass of Pepsi…

Happens all the time, I don’t think anyone is that fussed are they?
