BAA today publicly announced a major new redevelopment of the terminal facilities at Glasgow (GLA). The three seperate security check areas for international, domestic and lo-co will be combined into one single, streamlined area within a new building dubbed “Sky-hub”.
The new hub, situated between the main terminal and the so called ‘T2’ check in facility will also feature new shopping and dining facilities and will be the largest physical redevelopment of the terminal building since the new international pier and departure halls were constructed in the early 1990’s.
It is thought that this redevelopment will provide a greater “post security / pre-flight” experience for the travelling public, whilst also restricting access to the upper terminal areas to non travelling persons such as family, friends and other general public such as aviation enthusiasts…

Was at a meeting the BAA held with the GLA spotters/snappers about this a couple of months ago, basically the entire upstairs will be airside( with the initial exception of Garfunkels, which will still be land side for a while)
speaking to someone at the airport on saturday about this, the outside is being done first, and the final part will be the change of the upstairs to airside (good for us that frequent the window on a saturday morning:) )
The 2nd International pier is on the back burner for now, depending on how busier GLA gets over the next few years.(for now, the area earmarked has been turned into new remote stands)
Also..hear today Emirates will shortly announce twice daily flights on a weds and sat (they just had a milestone for the service in late April..500,000th GLA passenger since inception)
Another one on the rumour mill is Aer Arrann starting an ORK service later this year.
