I was recently in Spain on holiday and was staying not far from Malaga Airport. I made a few visits and found various spots that offer good photo opportunities. While I was there only one runway (13/31) was in use. The new (not quite parallel) runway 12/30 has been officially opened but was not used while I was there. Here is a selection of the more interesting aircraft that I shot (full set here http://www.flickr.com/photos/24101413@N03/sets/72157631175302888). I can provide further details of spotting locations if anyone needs them.

The light is difficult enough, depending on the time of day, and being on a family holiday I was constrained as to the times I visited. The ideal would be landing on 13 in the morning and then departing 31 in the afternoon, but when I was there the opposite tended to be the case! The take-offs with the hills behind were taken from the terminal, airside, as I waited for our flight home.
The new runway is to the north of the existing one and there is a linking taxiway at the north end which may offer photo opportunities. http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=7381976
From the taxiway alignments of new runway, it looks to me like when they do begin dual runway operations, it won’t be used for landings from the sea.

Great stuff. I spent 4 days there in 1999 in a farmers field and got rafts of great shots. I went back last year and there was no access to the field and photography was difficult. The lighting wasn’t that good either from the spot i found at a car hire place. Seems like you found other decent spots. I didn’t notice they were building another runway !

A really great set of pics there. It’s always good to see an A310:) I just wonder how much worse some of these airline names have to get? Fly Time? Helitt?
