Malaysia Airlines plans to introduce direct, twice-weekly flights from London to Malaysia’s northern resort islands of Penang and Langkawi beginning 19th October. The new flights are aimed at luring more British and European tourists to Malaysia.
Flights will be operated with 747-400 aircraft, I think they are a re-routing of the Kuala Lumpur flights. Schedules show that the Penang flights will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays with Langkawi departing on Wednesdays and Sundays. It is said that bookings are already encouraging.

I think United and Qantas will probably take up that option in the near future
