Here are some pics I took during my visit to Malta recently. I was very much impressed by both the National War Museum
and the Aviation Museum.
Previously I had always thought that EN199 was a cobbled up airframe, but when seing it in the flesh I was very much impressed.
Noticed that it has no radiators fitted, anyone having some spare lying around?
Can you identify some of the wreckage?
Think about what’s still around the island at the bottom of the Med/

I remember clambering over a Javelin on Hal Far’s fire dump in Summer 1966. Can’t recall any of 728’s Sturgeon bits unfortunately….

Hi Cees, I was there on Wednesday 15 May, however your pics are far better than my efforts! A really impressive museum.

Andrew,
I will have a look, it puzzled me too. Snooping around hangars is fun. It is a wingsection with wingbolts visible. Also bits of Spitfire were lying around there. There are two Hasting cockpitsections in the pic. The wingsections of either of those are in Canada forming the basis of a new Halifax reconstruction

Hi Cees,
It is a Fairey Firefly wing centersection (well one end of it).
If you have any further photos of it ,that would be fantastic.

Hi Cees,
Do you have any more photos of the bit in the 2nd photo?
Andrew
It is a Mosquito centre section, that used to be located in a yard in Kalafrana, where the pic below was taken:

The two Hastings noses are, nearest to camera, C4 WJ325 a VIP configered aircraft, and behind it WJ328 which was a standard C2 operated by 70 Sqn for most of its life. Both were retired in 1968 and scrapped at Luga.

I was there last year. I was allowed to sit in the cockpit of the Spitfire as a friend helps out at the museum (he is a keen model maker as well and I try and do a bit of research for him) and as a “thank you” they let me have a go in the pilots seat. It is a nice friendly museum with some interesting bits and pieces and well worth a visit.

I’ve always liked looking at the bits outside of the Air museum. Hurricane rear fuselage photo 7 and Gladiator wings I think in 8 in the background.
