Maltese Connie

I mentioned a Constellation near Luqa in a thread about Malta a few weeks ago.
Not there now, some b******s torched it a few years back.
Found this pic. Not brilliant but slightly better than nothing. Rubbish Kodak camera again. Sky was bright white so I’ve darkened it a bit.

Found a bit more out. It was the first real holiday myself and my lady had together so we wrote everything down to remind us.

It was a Super Constellatiion and it was actually at Kirkop. We were there on 28/09/88 when it was a bar and restaurant. Mine host was George who owned a quarter of it. He said they wanted to move it to Takali but I don’t think that was ever really feasible. We tried to go back several more times but never found it open again.
We don’t remember any Dakotas but there were certainly several Caribous about.

Although we both want to, we’ve never been back to Malta since. Partly financial reasons, partly too many cats and partly because my passport’s run out. I haven’t renewed it yet as they’ve got it into their minds that I’m European.

That is a fond memories for me as i had a look round it in 1984, unfortunately all that is left are the engines that are now stored at the aviation museum at ta kali. It was a good time if you liked dakotas too as there was about 12 there, something to do with the oil fields in libya i was told there were a few carabous being maintained too.
