Malév re-launches its Bangkok flight
From 2nd December 2005 Malév re-launches its scheduled flight to Bangkok. Malév’s aircrafts will operate to the airport of the city of Bangkok, the gate of Southeast Asia, seasonally during the winter period from 2nd of December till the end of March three times a week. The national airline is going to operate its Boeing 767-200ER airplanes on this destination. Based on surveys Malév is expecting high load factor and also significant mail and cargo. The winter operation of BKK flight has considerable privileges as the main stream of traffic moves to the Southeast region when the transatlantic flights of Malév have a low season in comparison. Due to the moderate traffic, flights to New York and Toronto operate with lower frequency during winter. This gap will be completed with the far-east operation, securing Malév’s two wide-bodied B767-200ERaircrafts’ rotation throughout the year.
The national airline has had already scheduled flights between 1996 and 2001 to Bangkok, which were turned later between 2001 and 2005 to charter flights. The positive feed back of the charter operation and the high load factor of the previously operated scheduled flights prove that the traffic coming from Hungarian and European individual and organized tourists will indicate a highly preferable load factor again. The airline will set BKK flight into its timetable so as to provide easy transfer to the Western-European steam. At least 50% of passengers are expected from the transferring traffic, which will induce further profit for the company. In addition, Malév is planning its schedule so as to be able to offer good onward connections not only in Budapest, but towards Sydney and Hong Kong, too.
Don Muang, the airport of Bangkok serves as an important gate to Thailand and to Southeast Asia as well, where 80 airlines are operating, and has 25 million passengers a year. In winter there is a rush of tourists from all over Europe and Hungary, too. Tourists are offered high standard resorts, hotels. From the last month of the year the exotic regions of Thailand can be reached from Budapest non-stop again.

Good news. Malév are normally very cheap for flights via Budapest. For example, Athens was recently available for just £120 return. Not bad when British Airways charge from around £200 a time.

Very good news indeed alothough wouldnt HKG have been better with Malev soon to be a member of the One World alliance.

Why’s that?

There are enough oneworld airlines already serving Hong Kong, but fewer that serve the Thai capital.
