Man 21/09/03

Well, after all last week’s problems which caused me to miss the trip to LHR I made it to MAN! And well worth the visit too. As usual, though, seeing as it was me, things didn’t go totally to plan. I managed to fall over, twice! Big thanks to the three guys who came to my aid the second time as I fell down some steps. My glasses fell apart and I managed to trap my finger in a door! Apart from that it was great.

So, on to the photos….

B-HMF Cathay Pacific Cargo 747.

I saw an EAL 747 at Malaga Airport doing the Celtic Uefa cup final runs in May. They were in and out of Glasgow for a couple of days as well obviously , although I wasn’t there to see them.

I should have made the effort to catch the one Kev photo’d though when it performed a short season of charter flights to Florida from GLA in high summer this year.

I haven’t seen one, either, although there’s one due in for the Switzerland v ROI Euro2004 qualifier next month at the St.Jakob Park here in Basel, bringing Irish fans in from Dublin.

Hoping to get pics not only of it, but of the Air Atlanta 742 also arriving at the same time, and the two EI A330’s coming in, too.

I must just ask… Am i the only person on this forums who has not yet seen an EAL 747 close up?? 🙁 Kev, imo thats your best 2 pics, the EAL ones… very nice. One day Maybe I see one?

Cheers Kev. 🙂

Agreed, all digital zoom does is magnify the middle of the camera’s imaging chip rarther than optically getting you any closer to the subject. If you imagine taking a magnifying glass to a newspaper picture, the effect is similar.

I wouldn’t use the digi zoom at all if I were you – it really harms the quality of the image. You’ve got some excellent pics there, I’d stick to the ones where the camera will be able to cope without the need for digi zoom.

LN Strike Eagle.

If the objects far enough away (ie, too far) I use the lot!

I do like these in this scheme….

Thanks for the comments. The Balkan 154 visits BHX on a Sunday but almost always seems to be LZ-HMI.

Thought this was a bit of an unusual visitor yesterday.
