I used to fly to and from NZ from Scotland every other year growing up. I never seemed to have a problem flying. The airlines would give me a kids pack with puzzles, colouring in etc and there were always films on the overhead screens.

I’m not talking about anyone’s kids in particular, but perhaps the children generation of today are too used to having readily access to a television/computer screen and find it hard to entertain themselves otherwise.

I would be okay without seat back IFE as long as I had music and a magazine, I think. But definitely wouldn’t prefer it!

We flew Delta from Manchester to Atlanta this year in an ancient 767 without IFE. Never again. Trying to keep an 8 year old entertained for 8 hours (nearly 9 because of a technical delay at Manchester) is challenging at best.
By contrast part of our return flight was in a month old Air France 777 – very nice indeed.

Its another case of the regional airpoprts getting the out dated equipment.
personally i think its a bit of a liberty putting a plane with no personal IFE on such a route. I bet a browse of the airline website will show all it has to offer on it blue riband route aircraft!

It will be a Boeing 757-200. One of the most reliable, safe aircraft in the sky. Powered by two Rolls Royce RB211’s (Say no more) suplied by three fuel tanks, each with two boost pumps. It has three hydraulic systems and three electrical systems. It has two air conditioning systems and three pressurization systems. It has three inertia navigation systems and three HF and VHF radio systems. The aircrew and cabin crew are all highly trained, highly experienced professionals. The aircraft are all maintained by Very experienced, highly qualified profesional engineers. You will get there ok, don’t worry
The IFE? It’s a short flight, pick up a book in the terminal.
