Man – JFK help

Hi

I am about to book a trip over to new york from manchester and would be grateful if anyone has any info on which is the best airline to fly with from manchester in economy:

Delta
American Airlines
BA
Continental

They’re all similar in price so your help would be appreciated, also what equipment they use.

Thanks in advance

Thanks all, BA it is!! I dont like the idea of being on a 757 for 7/8hours plus ive never been on a 767. Booking it now.

AA dont fly MAN-JFK

DL use a domestic configuration 764 which isnt meant to be too great for long haul.

That leaves BA and CO. BA have just refitted all their 767s including the one at Manchester, with PTVs and new World Traveller seats. With the risk of getting a 757 or an old 762 with CO I would definitly go for BA.

Just my opinion…

But isn’t it sad that a lot of “Long(ish)-Haul” and “Transatlantic” flights are operated with 767’s or 777’s now?

Are 747’s slowly (or rapidly) becomming a thing of the past, or is it purely that they’re less economical?

If this is the case… Then why the need for the A380?

Continental B767-200 is due to operate 1 x daily flight this week then from Saturday 6th May second daily service added and both flights are to operated by 757s. This is a retrograde step imo; I would always choose a wide-body over a narrow body a/c and Continental 767s(&777) are much better than their 757s(the 757s don’t have seatback IFE). Of the choice mentioned I would probably go for Delta; opportunity to fly on a 767-400?

Ok – this is what I looked at for a trip outbound July 1 inbound July 10:

Continental – 757-200

British Airways – 767-300

American Airlines – 767-***

Delta – 767-400

According to Amadeus.

I understand that the B767 based at MAN was sent for ‘dusking’ with the upgraded cabin and seatback TV’s.
They also have a complimentary bar service during the flight. Not sure on the others though, however the CO flight is a narrow body which some do not like when flying transatlantic.

Don’t Continental use the 764 on that route ?
