MAN-LHR – How Long?

How long does it actually take to fly from MAN to LHR? The timetable says 1 hour 5 minutes, which is longer than MAN to BRU! I wouldn’t have thought it took so long. We are going to fly MAN-LHR in a few months and wondered how long it would take us.

LHR can end up having very long taxi times as can MAN for that matter as well as the holding. Staight line flight time probably about 20 mins but SID’s and STAR’s add to that somewhat.

From experience it can take anything upto 90 minutes to transit through LHR.

Never have understood why i queue at MAN to get airside, fly to LHR and then queue again to get from airside to airside to continue the journey.

I suppose it is the old English passtime standing politely in a line again.

Lee

all very true.

My experience has always been about 45mins for the flight from engine start to engine shutdown -15mins climbout, then 15mins level flight, then 15 mins descent 🙂

MAN to GLA is almost exactly the same.

Thanks for the answers. I hope we don’t get too held up, we have to catch another flight three hours after we arrive at LHR :p

It is certainly the most roundabout way I’ve ever gone from MAN to BRU 😀

I frequently transverse this route with work, it can vary from 30 mins to 1h 30. As already stated depends if you get stuck in the hold at Heathrow. The quickest time I recorded from take of at Heathrow to touchdown at Man was 21 mins, then nearly two hours to drive 30 mils from Man to home.

they give 1 hour 5 mins as a block time, so if you do get delays you still arrive on time. if it only takes you say 50 mins, it looks good on the airline because it appears to a head of schedule!!

I think they say 1 hour 5 mins just incase the traffic is bad in LHR, although I doubt it will take more than 40 minutes.
