MAN Take-off Trio (9/6/06)

A quite lovely evening, so I dragged myself away from the World Cup and made my way up to MAN.

Enjoy…. 😀

A word of warning…. I was moved on this evening by a friendly and polite but very determined policeman.

I’d advise anyone visiting MAN to stick to the “known” spotting areas, at least for the time being.

A few questions about this gentleman – which I am also posing in a new thread in the general forum so you maywish to migrate.

* was copper in uniform?
* was he Greater Manchester or Cheshire or British Transport plod? (the latter are more concerned about safety on railway bridges. The former may be more concerned about you stepping back into the road while taking photos)
* what form of words did he use to move you on? standing on a bridge is not illegal, it is a public right of way; neither is taking photos illegal. I have been told that taking photos is against the human rights of those on board the aircraft because I don’t have their permission to take the pic. Absolute twaddle of course.
* did plod take your details? Did you take his?

Each shot is absolutely brilliant but I would have to say that my favorite is the MyTravel A330. There is something about this Airbus that makes it quite possibly the sexiest in flight aside from Concorde.

Hmmm…. Maybe it was parked upside down? 😀

Well, VLM is Belgian so I would not be surprised actually. 😉

Great photos, especially the Legacy. Never noticed before that the Legacy’s wingbox has been enlarged compared to regular ERJ’s. But then, I have never seen a Legacy except for Farnborough and Le Bourget.

I shot the MYT A330 from the beer garden at the Airport Hotel and the other two from the nearby bridge over the railway.

Apparently the latter spot is “too near the runway”, a concept that will perplex anyone who is familiar with the beer garden. 😉

I would of thought that the beer garden was in fact closer to the runway that the bridge was

Does the MYT A330 operate other routes apart from USA/Carribean ?

Excellent trio Lance!

That’s stupid, how close are you at the AVP, Southside etc… It’s getting abit of a joke now, I just hope they don’t start moving people on a regular occasion.

Haha, you should be local to another airport in the UK, and then you’d understand when it turns into ‘a joke’. At STN, there is a single place where we’re allowed to collect and not get moved on, or Stop and Searched. That is where I took my photos the other evening (check out the thread, you’ll see). In the Winter, the Sun doesn’t even get as far as that side, and in the Summer the Sun is only round from about 5pm onwards! So for the whole Wnter, and Summer before 5pm, there isn’t anywhere for us to go without being hassled. I only go to one other place, a farmers field for approach shots, because that’s well out of the hands of the Airport Police. And again, the Sun is only round in the late afternoon.
