MAN-YYZ GSM

First leg 12/1/07
Airline: Fly Globespan
Aircraft: 767-300 G-CEFG

Having arrived at Manchester a good 4 hours early i was pleased to hear there was no delay. The Airport was very quiet, perhaps been due to it been winter of course. Only other flights checking in were PIA and Virgin.
So after a very fast check in i went to go get some food then preceeded to security, and then as per usual strolled the shops bought magazines etc.
Boarding started at 13:15 as stated on the ticket, very proffesional by Manchester handling. Then the trouble started, the pilot announced we can’t take off until we get this peice of paper, time passed on and on and on and then it was announced there was a problem with the cargo door and we would have to exit the plane until this part arrives from London.
What was insulting was the £4 meal voucher, only enough to get a biscuit and a coffee at Starbucks, i was starting to get very negative opinions of the airline. Information was given every hour that passed that there was no progress been made and a few passengers were getting very annoyed.
However came 19:30 an announcement was made the plane was fixed and all ready to go, WAHEY.
We all boarded again in speed and within 10 minutes began our taxi to 24L for a very very powerful take off, a rotation within 20-30 seconds.
Onboard service was pretty average, crew were polite enough and the meal was very good, the IFE was very poor, only 4 audio channels working, and i was very dissapointed with this. I was also dissapointed the airline doesn’t do inflight magazines, only a duty free card and an IFE guide.
Free headsets were issued, i wouldn’t of bought them anyway.
The condition of the 767-300 was ok, seats were original Air New Zealand’s and weren’t the most comfertable, however 2-3-2 config is much more generous than what MYT and TOM offer.
The tv was what suprised me, been a big cinema screen at the front, i thought only older planes had these.
After a long 8 hours time came for landing in Toronto Pearson, a bumpy but skilled landing on 06R was soon followed by a fast disembarkment.

Overall i rate the following

Service: 8/10
Inflight Entertainment: 2/10
Comfort: 7/10
Meal: 8/10
Aircraft: 8/10
Flight on time: 2/10

Overall: Flyglobespan aren’t bad, excellent value for money, service is good but IFE needs improving and maybe a refurbishment of the plane too.
Second review coming soon.

Nice little report there Tommy, a good read.

Was confused about the airline at first, GSM always make me thing ‘GlaxoSmithKline’ – very strange indeed

Now GSK I could understand…:)

An interesting report, shame about the delay, but these things happen unfortunately,

I eagerly await the sequel, what kind of service is provided mid-flight?

Intresting report, Tommy!

Judging from that review I would’t want to spend 12 hours on them to Cape Town. 😉

Ask Manc, he travelled with them in First class – Not sure he liked it too much either :p

A great review, although it’s a shame about the delay.
