Barry raises a number of valid points and, indeed, echoes many of my own thoughts – but this isn’t the place to discuss them and any further postings on the subject will be treated as being off-topic.
I do think that a re-evaluation of this sub-forum is long overdue, and I intend to have that discussion with the Webmaster and my fellow moderators sooner rather than later.
In the meantime, can we please use this sub-forum for its intended purpose and for that purpose alone?
If anyone does want to continue to discuss the points that Barry and others have raised then I have no objection to a thread being started in the Commercial Aviation forum for that specific purpose.
Any such thread won’t be exempt from the Code of Conduct, however. :diablo:
Thanks

Barry … i Appreciate you Oppinion because afterall were all allowed one and you believe what you feel and thats awesome
I kinda feel abit down you feel that about BRS cause even tho it is boring atleast we have some traffic unlike cardiff who have alot of space between landing and arriving,
I think i would carry on posting my shots from BRS and just hope those that dont mind The same here and there will enjoy my post and also it gives me a good feeling when someone posts a comment which is a good comment on my shots.
I know what you mean about the same old but i enjoy everyones post.
Im gonna shut up now cause i dont wanna get into anything but just hope you dont feel like im being selfish or overpowering or dare i say it arrogant 😀
cause believe me i know nowt 😀

I’ve no disagreement with what you say fundamentally and I’d never want anyone excluded. It’s not my forum after all,is it?
However, this surely is a forum related to an internationally selling publication and I do not accept the thousands (or tens or hundreds of thousands, for all we know) POTENTIAL viewers expectations should be ignored so that a small group (and remember that includes me) can post repetitive material.Like you,I live near BRS…….the traffic is boring so although I photograph it,I rarely post it or even email it to my friends……sorry!!
What I think is really the problem to many people I know is that even when such material is posted,a small group on here want an endless discussion about the technical merits of the shot,DESPITE the Webmaster’s requirement to keep text content to a minimum.Yes,I know I’m offending right now but it’s difficult to avoid in this instance!!!It’s quite obvious to me and others just looking at the links to other photo sites that some include in the posts that many are seeking acclaim for their efforts, not trying to show enthusiasts at large what’s going on around UK and other airports.Barry

Some excellent shots Danny, albeit in what looks like sub zero temps! Brave man! 🙂
Loving the virgin shot and the Saudi is a Beaut too! A great catch on the Hamburg special too! Nice work!

Barry i have to dissagree
I feel that you should be able to post any shots you like whether or not you post frequent or if your photos are all the same
The majority of my posts come from bristol but thats cause i work whenever i can (bar work) i may sometimes go to different airports like LHR or BHX but thats a planned day out which i normally do say twice a year.
So im sorry if people find my posts Annoying because its all the same but i just wanna share with people the work ive done.
You dont need to view the thread nor do you need to post a comment but i hope that some people enjoy what i produce even if it aint brilliant
I understand what you are saying and i hope noone trys and turns what i said into something it aint but i do believe people should be able to post freely no matter how much they post or how many shots are near enough the same.
I know that comment wasnt about me but what ive said is just how i take on it.

Dear,oh dear! This is all getting a bit discouraging to people who just want to see interesting a/c pics. The sub-forum heading says “a forum to post your pictures”.So why have various “cliques” turned it into a digital editing forum,or an educational forum,or a mutual congratulation forum?
I’m not wanting to aportion blame, but to use two expressions from this thread, yes, many people seem to be “up themselves” and I know for a fact of many people who’ve stopped looking because of the constant repetition of material from the same contributors followed by the same post-mortem on the cleverness or otherwise.
This thread was a classic case in point……..I only looked at it because it was MAN and I thought “wonder whether anything interesting came in?”!!!!
I’d like to hear what the Webmaster or Key Publishing or any Mods not part of the problem think.
You wouldn’t buy the magazine to read these arguments or to see pictures you’ve seen a hundred times so,come on,let’s have something which appeals to a wider audience befoe the site dies.
I don’t know Steve Rowell but he stands out as the exception who maturely keeps his posts above it all and I must congratulate him.He probably likes to just keep abreast of what/who flies where and to see pics of it all.

The comment was made in the best interest
It’s a shame he didn’t take it that way. It’s that you need to learn to understand.
Yes, back on track.

Good Morning,
I personally would have liked to see this discussion ended, but you seem to have that much of a problem with my post and attitude, I feel obliged to comment… again!
Your arrogant, patronising attitude is getting boring, Sam. I know for a fact many agree.
Sort yourself out. You’re annoying more people than you realise.
Paul
I could of personally came back with something very similar – but where would that get me? I’d personally be more worried if my best friend had a problem with me, rather than a few people on a forum – where every message is interpreted how the reader likes, and not necessarily how is intended and would be perceived if it was a face-to-face conversation.
The comment was made in the best interest so Danny, and anyone else who was either unsure, or didn’t know, would be provided with the correct information. I didn’t phrase the sentence in a patronizing way, but in a way which was pleasant. It suggested that if Danny (and anyone else) wants to take on board what has been said, great and i’ve mealy provided him with the correct information to an incorrect statement – does everything out of the stereotypical ‘great shots’ have to go via you to see if you agree? No… you’re not a mod, and if they have a problem with me, then i’d be more than happy to receive a message.
If this topic was in regards to music, you’d be the first one to correct the error, but I guess that’s OK, as it’s your knowledge rather than anyone else’s. If the comment was made in a correct manor, fantastic – it benefits everyone. If someone had posted a guitar related topic and gotten some basic guitar trivia incorrect, such as two guitar strings the wrong way around (such as D and G), can you honestly say that you’d leave a comment without bring up the small mistake, if phrased in a way such as FYI (for your information) that does not require a response (or action) from the recipient?
I could write paragraph after paragraph about the above, but i’m going to keep it short and sweet.
I fail to see what’s wrong with a small correction, and I feel it’s more your recent vendetta against me – unlike you, I wouldn’t post something like that in a public forum, but rather in a private discussion such as a PM or email.
Lets get this topic back on track!
Sam

Nice shots there, like the 777’s there 🙂

It’s getting boring now, Paul… It wasn’t the primary comment in my post, I was just letting DJ know, so if he puts something similar in his remarks it’ll be correct, rather than incorrect.

FYI, the FO is waving, not the the captain.
Does it really matter? to me a pilot/captain sits at the front of the plane and steers it.

Was it really so essential for you to correct that?
