Manchester 9th June – evening departures off 23L

Hi all,

Stopped by Manchester for a couple of hours Saturday teatime whilst driving down the M6. Was pleased to find the 23s in use which made for some nice early evening departure shots – not photos I’ve taken at MAN before. Sorry the thumbs are a little on the small side, but clicking an image will take you to a larger version, 1024 wide. Anyway, here goes…

Hi all – many thanks for your comments and feedback, much appreciated.

Also, Manchester doesn’t have a 23L. It’s 24L. 😉

MAN actually re-designated its runways from 24s to 23s on the 7th June 🙂

Super shots! I flew on G-DIMB back in the days when it was operating for Airtours.

Also, Manchester doesn’t have a 23L. It’s 24L. 😉

Adam & Adam,

Many thanks to you both for helpful directions to northside location for 23L movements.

Also, for Adam [Spalding], I was at Manchester on Saturday with a pal who had travelled up from Clevedon in your part of the world. Spotters do get around!

Cheers Guys,

Peter

Good shots! nice to see some shots from that position. I think you can get to that spot under the tunnel from the southside.

You’re bang on! Peter, you want to find Wood Lane on the Altrincham side of 23L/05R…

Adam

Some fantastic shots there – Brilliant i like them all.

can you let me into your secret and tell me where the location is where you were ‘graphing from as I don’t recognise the spot

Peter, the location you are referring too is along the side of runway 23L. But because these shots were taken in the evening, Adam has moved around to the other side of the runway (not the traditional side for taking southside shots) so that the sun is behind him. Hope this helps and Adam if I am wrong at all please feel free to correct me 🙂

Hello Adam,

A nice selection of pictures you have got there – can you let me into your secret and tell me where the location is where you were ‘graphing from as I don’t recognise the spot.

Regards,
Peter
