Re this airport, exactly what are the authorities doing at MAN for terrorist prevention. There is a hotel at the end of the runway where you can actually get to within 50 yrds of the runway.
Are there plans to keep this hotel open? as a terrorist could easily shoot a rocket or bullet at an aircraft here……..

I don’t think there are any plans to close hotels.
Were this so, MAN would certainly not be the only one affected. There is a whole row of hotels at LHR, which run parallel to a main runway. LGW also has 2 hotels in the grounds, one of which is similar to the one at MAN in terms of proximity and the “view” from windows (Le Meridien).

I think this is the same anywhere, Paul. When I actually get the chance these days to get up to Heathrow Airport, I go an Esso Petrol Station. This is exactly the same and is just 30 metres or so from aircraft!
