Manchester Photos

We had a day spotting in Manchester back in June, the weather was hot and hazy. We spotted in the cafe area (the best bit), the enclosure on top of the car park (crap when you are making a video) and the Aviation Viewing Park (great as long as someone doesn’t decide to block your view just as you are video-ing a take off! and as long as you like gross walks along overgrown paths!)

1. Air France A318.

2. The Air France aircraft taking off, seen over an incoming Dash 8 of British Airways.

3. A British Airways A319 on push back.

4. A bmi ERJ145 on push back.

5. British Airways.

6. A British Airways Dash 8 with the Union Flag tail.

7. The busy apron, seen from the spectators enclosure (literally!)

8. A Chelsea Rose Dash 8.

9. Continental 777.

10. Concorde.

I said that the viewing area with the mesh fence is bad for video, not still photography. Some of the photos I took on here were taken from the spectators area. The problem here starts when you are video-ing an aircraft from the terminal to take off. You need to move around alot to keep the aircraft in the frame, and keep having to adjust focus to blur out the mesh of the fence if you want to get the aircraft in the centre of the film. If I could transfer my VHS video to the computer I could show you what I meant because I had that problem back in July 2000 when I was making a video of a Sabena 737 from the terminal to its take off.

By the way the photos were taken on 8th June, but I had some problems with the uploading and so was only able to put them on now.

And thanks for the comments.

Comet – that picture of the T1 viewing area is so selective that it borders on misrepresentation. Having said that – can anyone spot me in that picture? Because I’m in there. 😉

Look, almost all of the pictures that I have posted on here are taken from the T1 viewing area and the fence never – I repeat, never – appears in any of them or impedes me in any way.

Now, either I’m 3 or 4 metres tall and thus able to take pictures over the fence, or you’re trying to paint the facilities at Ringway in as bad a light as possible for unfathomable reasons of your own.

I invite you to consider which of these two possibilities is the more likely…..

The pictures are quite good, by the way. 🙂

If you’re 3 or 4 metres tall you are 9foot 9inches or 12 feet! Sorry to be pedantic – enjoyed the photos though. At the end of the day Comet prefers BHX to MAN. She has been to both,as have I, and a lot of you have too. She’s entitled to her opinion, even if some disagree. Fair enough?

Have to agree with Grey Area, you do seem to like a good old moan about MAN!

Good shots BTW, Aviation – Air Nostrum no longer operate out of MAN.

Good Pics, Comet

I find it hard to miss the railings on top og the car-park as well!

Do Iberia, Air Nostrum, still operate the CRJ-100/200 out of Manchester?
