I know it will never happen, but imagine it being opened up as part of the viewing area. People would pay a fortune for a couple of hours up there!

Is it just the tower that is being replaced at Manchester or will this lead to the admin block that it sits on to of being pulled down too?

Steve

just the control tower that sits on the top – the building will remain in place. MAN has just spent quite a bit of money on a couple of the floors of the building, so won’t be getting rid of it any time soon. i don’t think it will ever get taken down.

Sorry to dredge up this thread, but I hadn’t realised that Emirates are sponsoring NCL’s new tower…

Lots of different things, even down to poor lighting (very, very dark at night in the visual control room), curved bookcases (you try and replace a book in one end, and the folder on the other end gets forced out), poor temperature control (down to 10 degrees at night in May, and up to 27 degrees in the day during summer) etc etc etc.

Let’s hope that the lessons learned in our move to our new tower will be absorbed!

Excuse my ignorance but what kind of problems have occurred?

Let’s hope it’s as funky as the new tower at NCL!

There is so much building work going on in T1 and under the tower.
New security and shopping is being built ,the airport say they are spending £32 million.
How long after the new tower is open ,will it be before the tower is come completly,it must be in the way of future redevelopment

Paul

I don’t think we’ll ever see the building go completely. For one thing, I don’t think is very easy to get rid of a tower block that sits on top of, and is part of another building.
