Manchester to Mahon with MyTravel

After the lovely summer we have all enjoyed??? I though sod this lets get out of blightey to somewhere warm.

We eventually got a deal 5 days prior to departure to Minorca with My Travel, looked ok we thought, let’s book it.

Woke at 03:00 boggy eyed and grumpy, got the rest of our stuff together and waited for the farther in-law to collect us, was he also mad also getting up at silly o’clock, took around 20 minutes to get to Ringway and arrived at terminal 1 to collect our tickets, and then we proceed to the MyTravel check in desks, pretty busy with many other of their flights all departing but only took around 15 mins to get to the desk, service was friendly and was given seats 1 D and F.

Went through security fairly quickly and then the worst bit just waiting around till boarding, around 30 mins before dept we were call to gate 2D, this was downstairs to another waiting area to be bussed out to our remote stand. Like cattle we were transported to our stand and then boarded via door 1L.

Sorry for no pictures was last to board so no time to hang around.
On entering the Airbus I noted how clean and well groomed she looked, seats were of navy blue leather, very comfy indeed. Doors closed push back commenced and engines coughed into life like a tired old man. Soon we were trundling down to 25L behind the many other early morning departures.

At pricelessly 07:30 we lined up, excitedly waiting for the CFMs to bark into life, power stabilised and then the full unleash of those units screamed in to life, we were off.

Soon we rotated and the Cheshire countryside got smaller and we powered through the cool morning air sky bound, climb power set we turned towards North Wales on our steady climb to 35,000ft. Our route was a strange one as we heading towards Lands end, across the Bay of Biscay and then followed the East coast of France all the way to the Pyrenees before turning left towards Barcelona.

Soon after we passed Barcelona the CFMs took a quite note and our decent had started, passing over Ibiza, Majorca and then Minorca we smoothly glided down to a perfect landing, not much braking but my I have never heard those engines screem as the reverse thrust was used by the bucket load, made a nice change. Vacated the runway and taxied to the remote stand for embarkation.

Total flight time 2h 40 mins, smooth conditions all the way, excellent service form MyTravel and good food as well. Doors opened and 26 0C of heat meet me, wow that felt good.

Fab week in Cala N Bosh, but all to soon time to come home, Again bussed out to remote stand to be greeted by An A321, nice I though, apparently our A320 was broke so they sent us this bird, again clean and tidy inside, passenger load was only 60% so once airborne we were told that we can move around cabin.

Flight was as good as on the inbound sector, so won’t go into too much detail, but I think MyTravel have really ramped up their product, good staff and good service, they are so much better then when I flew with Thomson fly in June.

Routing back to Manchester was more direct taking only 2 hours, weather was clear all the way and only to soon we were descending over Lincolnshire for a runway 25R arrival. Passed though some wispy clouds which bounced us around a tad, and for an on time arrival as those Dunlop’s kissed the ground so softly we were back.
