Manchester to NY with BA…question

We have booked to fly with BA to NY from Manchester, in August and its not clear on the info wether we will have video screens in the seatbacks. We have booked Economy class. my friend who travelled the same flights last year had them. Can anyone confirm either way, Or does it depend on which type of aircraft we have

Short Haul 767s have never operated the MAN-JFK flight, there is no chance at all of that happening.

As for the route passing to AA, there is no chance of that happening any time soon.

Been persistent rumours about the route being canned. But unfortunately for BA, it steadfastly refuses to make a loss. So each year, BA do a trick to see if they can make the route unprofitble and so withdraw the oddball route in the network. Can it really be 8 years ago that BA/AA were going to offer at least 6 services a day to the States when they first thought about a joint-venture.

Why were you wearing the same clothes for three days?

Lost baggage is an excuse for a spending spree at the expense of the airline. I can think of no finer place to be without my bag for three days than New York!!!

I went to New York
Was schedualed out of Manchester on Wednesday,
but the BA1503 was cancelled.
“Hole in the engine of G-BNWD”
So we got rebooked on a flight from LHR that night,
our shuttle flight down to London
was delayed for 2 hours.
Missed our connecting flight to JFK.
Got put up in a top notch London hotel Wednesday night,
and flew out Thursday morning.
23 hours late.
British Airways
then lost our cases.
and we finally got them on Friday.
2 days i’d been wearing the same clothes.
Then on the way back
they delayed the flight out of JFK For 2 hours.
And again,
once we got to Manchester,
they lost one of our case.

ba.com :):)

But yes.
they do have seat-back entertainment,
which was touchscreen when i flew
that was pretty good :]

the meals are just a weird concoxion of food.
Chicken, with cheese in the middle, with sweet and sour sauce of the chicken,
served with rice.
Not nice!

But the cabin crew are extremley friendly.
watch out for the ground staff.
They are rude,
One of our party, went to one of the staff
“Excuse Me, When Will We Boarding?”
Reply,
“We Will Call You When We’re Ready! Go Sit Down.”

We are now at the beginning of our compensation claim 🙂

Great experience of our flag ship.
Never flying with them again.
Jon.

Which of the 767s in the fleet are short haul configured?

ello!

I am booked to fly out of heathrow in may with BA, on a 767 (transatlantic to BWI). BA states my class of travel is “world traveller” and the online flight manager tells me the features the seats will have. World Traveller class does have seatback TV screens. However, BA use some 767’s to fly european routes, and these are fitted with eurotraveller seats (i.e. no vid screens). the flights over the atlantic are usually 5 hours plus and i would have thought that it would make sense to deploy the world traveller equipped 767’s on their “world” flights. I guess it remains to be seen. you may be in for a nice or a nasty surprise!

Enjoy your trip!

It depends as i think once the 767 has made it back from NYC into MAN sometimes BA rotate on a LHR so it can do other routes from LHR. If your going in August it might not be BA flying that route because they might sell it to their one world partner American Airlines which will probaly operate a 767-300 on it(Rumour Nothing Offical).

Hi,

The Manchester based 767 does have personal seat-back tv’s – which are fitted with BA AVOD system.

Last time I flew BA – March/April ’07 there were alot of problems with this service, but hopefully they’ve fixed it now – i’ll report back in March.
