Greetings,
I’m off to Manchester tomorrow to do a bit of photography 😉
I was wondering if anything exciting was happening?
I think i will choose to stay at the AVP.
Many thanks
Jon

Hi Andrew,
If the weather’s poor at MAN tomorrow I suspect you’ll be needing an ISO more sensitive than 200 (i.e. a larger ISO number). It’s always tricky taking photos in low light…
You should be just about OK with a shutter speed of 250/320, but if you stick with an ISO of 200 you’ll more than likely be seeing dark and soft corners in your photos as the aperture drops down to wide open (e.g. something like f5.6) to compensate for low light. At 1/250 or 1/350 you’re still reasonably liable to motion blur as well, especially if you’re using zoom lens of any significance. No one enjoys blurry photos!
If I were you I’d use aperture priority and stick as close as you can to f7.1/f8 (which should just about keep dark/soft corners at bay), and adjust the ISO accordingly so that you can maintain a shutter speed of 1/320, or better still 1/400.
Unfortunately grain in the photos may be a problem, but there are remedies for that (e.g. NeatImage and other facilities in Photoshop etc.) during post-processing.
At the end of the day, remedies for motion blur and/or softness are few and far between!
Hope that helps,
Adam
