Hi all,
had a phone call from a collegue at LPL. Apparentlky earlier this evening MAN was snowbound with poor braking action resulting in LPL taking a bunch of Diverts – apparently theres an Emerates A330 on the ground, bmi A321 from LHR, RYR B738 from DUB, 2 Brymon DHC-8s and possably an undisclosed B742. Leeds has taken a couple that i know of, LOT 289 ERJ from Warsaw and Reubens 410 a VLM F50 from LCY to MAN, BHX taken a few too – OK646, BA1611 and BY443B.
apparently it was improving, but i’m not too sure what the score will be later on…

hmmm was suppoosed to be making an ealy trip to MAN tomoz, and was about to call it off pending the weather, but if MAN is geting some interesting Diverts then i my have to reconsider!

BHX picked up a couple of diversions earlier, an Easyjet flight and one from bmibaby. But then had to start diverting it’s own flights to MAN and EMA due iced up taxiways. Rumour on another board has at least two members claiming they heard radio transmissions blaming a lack of de-icer. Don’t know how true this is. An RAF C-17 was holding but BHX closed at 1958 and the C-17 went to MAN. Temeperature at BHX currently -4 and airport will not reopen till temperatures rise.

Still loads of the stuff in staffordshire, bit like an ice rink at the moment, and according to the radio, Staffordshire should be getting another load of the white stuff tonight.

I think the situation must have got better at MAN, considering that a lot of the planes I’ve listened to on my airband radio have been diverted there from STN.

WHOO Sn all the way of course, It’s probably the only airline oeprting a smaller type in there. IT just snowed here, but It’s already melting. But it’s going to snow again at 17h, and we expect an even more chaotic rush hour.
