Statement Regarding the Museum and Airport Closure
June 23, 2014
Dear Visitors,
The museum has been receiving an unprecedented amount of enquiries regarding the closure of Manston Airport and its potential effects on the museum. In order to provide a clear answer to these enquiries, the Trust and Management of the Museum have prepared the following statement;
“Currently the museum is unaware of any plans regarding its future, and is continuing to operate as usual. The museum has no political affiliations, and is not generally involved with its landlord’s business decisions. If appropriate, the museum will up-date its visitors and stakeholders via the website as the situation develops. The Museum and Museum Trust would like to thank you all for your continued support.”
As mentioned above, any further updates will be posted in the “News” section of the website.
Best Wishes,
The Management Team

Quite so and my understanding is that their relationship with the owners of the airport is quite different from the Spitfire and Hurricane Museum.

Given there are several memorials around it I think the outrage that would follow any threat to move it would stop any plans.
I would be more concerned with the Manston History Museum….

Being a glass half full man the fact that they have received no intimation of any closure is, to me, encouraging. I fully accept that anything can change – even a compulsory purchase order to allow the prospective new owners to take the airport over.

I’m not sure that I’d call that either encouraging or discouraging, it sounds like a blanket ‘we don’t know what’s going on’ statement to me.
