Manufacture
Aircraft wings are very complex assemblies of fixed structural and deployable aerodynamic surfaces, made from a combination of metallic & composite parts:
- Describe the assembly methods currently used by the manufacturers of large commerical & military aircraft
- Identify the prinicipal costs in the assembly processes
- Identify methods by which substantial reduction in those costs could be achieved
- Comment on changes needed in wing design to accomodate the proposed changes in assembly methods
