I was flicking through Novemebers Airliner World and noticed a small news piece on the IOM aircraft register. The first BBJ has just been added to the register (M-URUS, ex P4-RUS) and the first A340-300 (M-ABUS) was due to be added in October.
I was just wondering, why are aircraft as large as this added to the Manx register when there is a very minimal chance of them even making it to the IOM, well the A340 definately won’t!
Is there some sort of financial gain to be had by registering your aircraft there? Over 80 aircraft have now been added with the stipulation from the IOM CAA that any aircraft on the register can only be of the GA, Corporate, Helicopter variety. No airliners?
