It is being reported from France that Marc ‘Leon’ Mathis perished in an ultralight aircraft accident this weekend. Many will have seen his exuberant displays in various warbirds at Flying Legends and many other events in Europe over the years. More terribly sad news from France on this tragic weekend. 🙁

Marc was absolutely beaming when he taxied in at Legends in his ‘190. His skill in successfully ditching this aircraft attracted little comment but was a feat of outstanding airmanship. A great loss.

Marc Mathis will probably be best remembered in the UK for displaying the FW190 at Flying Legends a few years ago. My condolences to his family and friends.
