Mark I Spitfire gets some fresh air.

AR213 made the short trip from hangar 2 to Area 51 fleetingly formating with a 19 Sqn Hawk en route.

Buzz Aldrin stopped by to chat with some school children:

Well he had an American accent and it said Aldrin on the front of the suit.

Winter maintenance is progressing well in hangars 2 and 4.

The Centaurus looks an impressive beastie.

MH434 spends her winters in a state of undress in this corner of hangar and has done for what seems like decades. I suspect I could find similar shots for every winter going back to the mid 80’s. Still it keeps her in good health.

3 of the resident display a/c are sat patiently waiting for the Airshow season to start.

An a/c of past display seasons sadly no longer flying in the resident varsity. 1977 I think it was that I saw this a/c displaying at DX.

Work on the Blenheim is moving gradually forward. Most of the work is carried out voluntarily due to available funding, much of which is from the Blenheim Society. One of the engines is currently under rebuild. If any one is keen to see the Blenheim back in the air a little sooner please make your donations to the Blenheim Society. £100,000 is still needed in order to complete the aircraft and get her back in the air.

Hangar 5 is an eclectic mix of aviation bits. Despite having visited DX many hundreds of times, there is always something to look at and wonder, what the devil is that.

I do like bits. A Merlin and some sort of geodetic structure are amongst many other items currently being fettled.

Stacked high on the wall are many engines too numerous and in some cases obscure to mention.

Dx’s other Blenheim is making progress. Well it has at least made it to hangar 5.

The Blenheim wings are stacked in a ‘pending’ sort of way.

Yes yes it’s a Bollingbroke, but it just doesn’t conjure up the same image.

The wings of the Casa are the closest they have been to the fuselage for many years and work on the a/c is taking place.
