Just come across a reference to a ‘large-range altimeter (Mark XIVB), reading to 45000 ft’ – would anyone have a photo of the instrument please? It’s in connection with the instrumentation of Spitfires flying PRATAs at Aldergrove, Wick, Bircham Newton and Manston during WW2.
(PRATA = PRessure And Temperature Ascent; basically a climb to record temperature above the base airfield for meteorologists.)
