Does anyone know if John Marlins replica has been finished or even flown yet?

Mention of Wattisham reminded me that I have a photo of a photo which is in the Wattisham Museum …..

Yeah, I know what you mean!-If it was too sensitive in pitch it would explain why his version is shorter, though

At the end of this report it says the MB5 went to Wattisham 1948/9 then Bircham Newton 1963 before being burnt.

I fear I may be the cause of some historical inaccuracy. I wrote to Flypast after an article about the MB-5 having seen a letter in a very old issue of ‘Air Pictoral’ to the effect that the MB-5 went to Bircham Newton. I later found another letter from a few months later correcting that statement, saying that it never went there but I never wrote to flypast again to correct it. Apologies, it was just that I was just given a big pile of them from the 50’s and 60’s in no particular order. P.S. I read somewhere that Mr Marlin’s (near) copy is of different dimensions to make it handle better

Didn’t the late Mr Martin of M/B, save a large number of MB5 components & the drawings etc, with the intention of building another one ?. If so do they still exist.

Mr Martin asked his staff to look out what existed of the MB5 in the late 1970’s. Suffice to say they didnt find the airframe which the RAF destroyed at some time in the 1950s. A FlyPast article in the mid 1980s outlined the machines of MB and gave some details of the search as was. Further to the article further recollections of her came to light but nothing that pointed to any of it surviving past the mid to late 1950s. So in essence I think its safe to say none of the flyer MB5 exists.
As for the American machine -she is shorter than the MB 5 hence why she doesnt look right.

Looks more like a collection of various aircraft parts, then an MB5 replica if you ask me

if i recall it was rumored that the original airframe survived (unfortunately incorrect though) during the 60’s and martin baker were trying to find it to restore as a part of the emerging airshow scene of the late 60’s .
john marlin should be applauded for bringing a lost fighter back to life ,but she doesn’t look quiet right.
