RAF Lakenheath Visit
Martlesham Heath Aviation society had a great visit to RAF Lakenheath on the 29th September 2011 Our main subject to see was the HH-60G Pave Hawk, but we also got some more including a visit to the control Tower. Although we had been there before the Tower is always an exciting place to be.
Thanks to all the Guys and gals and Mag Mark Ledbetter and his Pave Hawk Crew.

Tribute to Radar Pioneer
from the Martlesham Heath Braodcast List
A Memorial is being unveiled on the !4th August in honour of the late Keith Wood.
Keith was a member of Martlesham Heath Aviation Society. Keith was one of the original members of Robert Watson Watt’s team that discovered Radar or Radio Direction Finding. He worked at Orford Island and then at Bawdsey Manor. Radar played a very important part of the Battle of Britain and its possible that we would not have won without it.
I have included 2 links connected to Keith and Radar
http://www.bawdseyradar.org.uk/oralhistory/keithwood1.htm
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/1557631/Keith-Wood.html
Radar still continues to be a very important part of Aviaition today and also in many other area of todays World.
The ceremony will take part at Felixstowe Ferry just across the river from Bawdsey Manor at 2-30 Pm on Sunday 14th August. Keith’s daughter Judith will be present, to see this tribute to a man to whom we all owe so much.

Open Day 2011
It was decided at our AGM on Friday that there will be an Open Day on September 2011. This goes against an earlier decision not to hold one this year.
We havnt a lot of time but if anyone is interested please contact me at control.tower.mhas.org.uk. we are looking for traders and exhibitors alike. It has been a good day out with no addmission charge although donations would be nice.
