I’ve just had one dropped through my door (well, handed to me!) this morning, and I’m currently debating the aircraft’s paint scheme – 80 Sqdn (Spit 24) or 603 Sqdn (Spit 22).
Does anyone have any hints or tips on finishing the beast? Or what Humbrol colours to use for the internals?
I promise to post pics up when done (and if I do build it as a 24, then I’ll have three in three different scales! :))

Thanks for the comments.
The decals in this one looked OK to me (the untrained observer!), and there was a full-assembled instrument panel and control column from a previous model, along with assorted other bits, in the box.
I’ve just finished my Airfix Spitfire F24 (save for the undercarriage legs which I’ve neglected to paint yet! 😮 ). I didn’t fit all of the small decals on as I found them very fiddly.
This one will be my FOURTH Spitfire 24 (I had built another Matchbox job when I was much younger, but wanted to make a better job of this one ;))

Matchbox Spit
Hy DAZ, can totally agree with the replys before ´cause I´m in progress with that kit converting it to a MK 47 Seafire: worst kit in construction and fitting of parts I´ve ever seen! Never had to use such lots of filler on a kit but if you familiar with a bit of scratchbuilding I think you can do a bird that is finally looking like a MK 22/24. Here´s a link to my online build at LSP where you can see some major modifications I had to do:
http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?act=ST&f=4&t=1958&
She´s in the spray booth now and I would like to post a few pics when she´s finished here. I have ordered a correction set from Vasco Barbic from warbird productions ( higly recommended) which contains: solid resin nose with corrected shape of the “griffon bulges”, solid five-blade prop, prop blades, corrected gun barrel covers.
Also the landing gear is/ has to be modified, did mine from alu tubings.
Hope this helps,
cheers and happy modelling

Exhausts…
Hi Daz
As JDK and Ant have said fit of parts was awful from memory.
Also you need to drill out the exhaust stubs as they’re solid (nightmare) and if my memory serves the seat straps are embossed onto the seat. So I’d recommend using replacement items.
Have fun.
Andy
PS None of these things are insurmountable–It’s just that this kit isn’t your latest Tamigawa product. 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

Yes. And the trenches for panel lines.
Mine came out OK, but I’d agree with Ant’s comments.
Built it in a hurry for a shop window display in 1986. Guess why…

Oh christ, not this one!I’m afraid to say this is one of those kits I prefer to forget,it’s not the easiest to build or best fitting of kits.As I remember it,the interior details such as the engine, canon bays etc were a very poor fit,and the wing to fuselage join was over-complicated and very weak.
That said, from what I remember it’s basically accurate in shape, and looks decent when it’s complete.Use plenty of re-enforcement on the wing/fuselage joint, and also be prepared to modify the undercarriage as the model doesn’t sit properly-it ends up looking like the gear is about to collapse.I’d also advise that you have plenty of filler to hand,as there are plenty of gaps.
As for colour scheme,I’d say go for the 80Sqn one,IMHO it’s the best scheme the latter mark Spits ever wore.
As for the example I built,it ended up in the bin after I botched up the paintjob,so I’m afraid I can’t post any photo’s of the finished model. What are the decals like with yours Daz?I remember the ones with mine were awful, they were the wrong colour and about a half an inch thick!
