MC-130 writeoff in Iraq – WTF, how stupid can one get

An MC-130H landed on a runway with a chunk bitten out of it (the runway, not the Combat Talon II) and didn’t survive. It happened during a night landing. An Army C-23 did manage to land on that same runway (Iraqi runways are loooong)

Now i can understand that keeping the peace and bringing order to Iraq is a bit tougher than the US expected it to be, but even failing to organise a bit of ATC is just absolutely pathetic.

There were a few injuries but no fatalities on board. Aircraft was 85-0012, last reported with 15 SOS.
