MD87 at Durban .. could not retract gear

A 1time McDonnell Douglas MD-87, flight 1T-643 from Durban to Cape Town (South Africa), could not fully retract the landing gear after departure from Durban’s King Shaka Airport. The crew entered a holding to trouble shoot the problem and performed a low approach to have the tower verify the landing gear was fully down again. The airplane landed safely.

The flight was cancelled, the passengers rebooked onto later flights the same day.

The airplane was ferried to Johannesburg with the landing gear down all the way.

What a drag, pardon the pun. 😀 I’ve done a couple of those. Anyway KSIA is getting well initiated. This is their second bout of excitement since opening I believe.
