ME-109 veterans

I am looking for some help in identifying some German ME-109 Veterans who were members of The Berlin branch of the Jagerkreis. I have tried google searching “Jagerkreis” without any success. The group were friends of number Six AEF at RAF Abingdon, whislt I was with the unit, and they made an annual visit to the UK for a formal dinning in night and other events that we hosted around Abingdon. In 1989 we took them to RAF Benson to see Black Six, where they were filmed (by I believe Channel 4), sat in the cockpit etc. I have posted a couple of photos below, but would really appreciatte any information to help identify them. I have their signatures on a print of black six (painted by Russ Snadden), so I can make out some of the spellings but not so much as to indentify them. The main Character was called Gunther (he is the one sat in Black Six) and He flew with JG.2? One of the other guys flew with JG104? and one other with JG.16? (I may be wrong on these, as I can not make out the German numbers very well). Any info would be appreciated.

Fluffy,

I am assuming that you were one of the two guys who showed us around in that case?

I have only posted the pictures of the 109 guys, but yes, there were other members there who had flown a variety of types. I will bring the rest of my pictures, and the signed prints on Wednesday.

Apparently the full name for Gunther is Gunther Domaschke, formerly JG 2 (thanks to Chris from the 12 o’clock high forum). Any one else know any more?

I was fortunate to attend the event, several years running. I only really have recolections of the 1989 dinner, as we had a number of RAF Veterans at the dinner. Again, I can not remember who, but I have a signed menu, and indeed a picture of us all (which I will try and post here as soon as I get 5 mins).

The connection between 6AEF and the Berlin Jagerkreis, was that the CO of 6AEF at the time (Sqn Ldr Mike Neil MBE), was previously at Gatow flying the Chipmunks over the western part of the then divided city, and the relationship was from his time there in Berlin. When he took the CO’s position at 6AEF, he started the UK visits and dinning in nights. We also took them to play traditional English skittles in a local pub, with lots of beer being consummed! Bearing in mind I was only 19 at the time, I didn’t really take on board the significance of these guys, and I am sure that some of them are no longer with us. They were a great bunch, and it was a pleasure to have met them. They used to have some very interesting stories, especially when they were chatting to the RAF veterans.

They look like real characters those guys! I can picture them in a bar having a great time. If you were at the dinner Darren, could you tell us a little about the event?
