Great News! At least this time the pilot won’t have to worry about the engines cutting out if he over-does the throttle. Can’t wait to see them in a movie!

I wouldn’t have liked to go up in a ‘163. If the gunners/fighters didn’t get you (and sometimes the fighters did) then you might get blown up on landing the damn thing! 😮

Must have been a shock to the gunners on the bombers seeing the 262 for the first time. Mind you the Me-163’s were even more radical and faster I believe (if only for a very short time !!)

Did the Me-262 ever encounter the B-17 in the closing stages of WW2 ?
They sure did ! Also Banana Boats (B-24’s) and Widow Makers (B-26).
Many books contain reports of such encounters.

Did you see the pic of the 262 hitched up to the halftrack “KETTENKRAD” and the period photos with the “GI’s”?
Magnificent stuff !!!!!!

I think they did, although can’t be 100% sure.
Great to see she’s up again, though 🙂

Just been looking at the superb pics of the 262 flying and parked next to the B-17 on the Stormbirds website.

Did you ever post those pictures anywhere, or publish them at all? One of my favourite aircraft, would love to get a closer look at her……

No I haven’t , but really they are not all that interesting , as they required small detail pics ..so close ups of wing fillets and fuel lines etc. I am a big fan of the type, but looking at such details doesn’t do a hell of a lot for me ;-0.
If you want a few scans you can contact me off board

;-)) . Just because I posted it doesn’t mean I am working on it ! The closest I got to the 262 project was supplying a couple of hundred detail photos of the Oz 262 for reference, when they were putting it together a few years ago…. that was a fun time being able to crawl all over that in any case 😉

I’m just waiting for the first person to ask whether it’s coming over for Leg Ends… 😉
Oshkosh maybe? Probably not. To early in the flight test program.
