A friend from Spain just mailed me the enclosed pics of the 262 testflight this week. BW Roger

Having had to contend with many years of ‘Me108’s and T-6’s painted in Luftwaffe colours at displays being shot down by the Allies, I think it’s time to get those Meteor fighters going again!

Which I think was one of the downfalls of the ‘109. They popped out automatically and sometimes caused the ailerons to snatch, throwing the pilot off his aim.
Obviously not enough to stop Erich Hartmann scoring 352 victories with the 109 then…………. 😀

Automatic, again according to Jane’s

Thank for that Papa Lima, Knowledgeble as Allways 😎
Do you know if they were automatic as per Me 109 or powered like on modern day Jets?
Looks like the Boeing engineers didn’t have to do an awful lot of design work for the wing on the 737 😀 They only took the wing from the 262 and scaled it up a bit. It has the same sweepback, more or less, and has the same limiting mach number!

According to Jane’s AWA, “Full-span leading edge slots” on the original Me 262As.

One thing I’ve noticed in these photos, is the fact that the newbuilds appear to have leading edge slats on the wings.
Does any of you know if the original had it as well?

It certainly is big, i just didn’t appreciate how large these aircraft were, or are. The B17 looks smaller than you think sat next to it.
Don’t know alot about 262’s, but were they all this large, single seat fighter/fighter-bombers ?
Ummm, yes!

Wonder if we’ll ever get a movie with the 262 in it?! 😀

Excellent photos… The first I have personally seen of the Schwalbe restored and in flight. Thank you!

Thanks for posting the photographs, Roger.
The third photograph could almost be a training flight in 1945, with an Alpine backdrop…
Regards,
Paul

From the Jet Van advert: “Owner medical issues are forcing this sale.” Probably frightened himself to death!
