Me 262s

The La-9 sounded beautiful.
As far as radials go it has to be the best sounding, better than even a Centaurus, in my opinion…(uh oh, hornets nest, here.. 😮 )

Very quiet sounding, sounded far more “tuned” than a R-2800 or R-1340.

I will have a look Thanks, Been reading Stalins Falcons by Tomas Polak, They were insane, Put the Las, Kittyhawks, Hurricanes, Yaks, Aircobras, Every thing flying though Hell, Always flat out and ramming every thing in sight with a cross, The La 9 is one fast plane, Did the engine sound any different to say the Corsairs Sound ?.

I tell you what you should have been to Warbirds over Wanaka this year.

My Dec Father came from N.Z., I went there when I was 3 years old, He worked for the Union steam ship company N.Z, Now gone, My GGGGrand father was Robert Rodgers Nankivell, Who helped settle N.Z. When whites first got there, Love to be able to get there for your great Air Shows.

Yes the ‘262 was in a class of it’s own, just the Jumo engines only had a life span of approx 25 hours and also had some tricky flying characteristiscs.

I recently watched a documentary on Discovery on the ‘262. Great footage in their and liked the fact that it actually interviewed former ‘262 pilots so the doco had more credibility.

I think its just fantastic, Always dreamed of 262s flying again, The Yanks Shooting star matched its performance ten years later, But did not look any where as advanced as the 262s. And thank you, I have only been on line 4 months, Always sending stuff to Graham Orphan, Editor Classic Wings there in N.Z. Become good friends Now.

I love all types of aircraft but mainly classic/ww2.

It’s wonderful what they’re building with the 5 Me-262’s. The workmanship just looks amazing. I’ve been following their progress on the site but often it’s a bit out of date.

Site still says very soon, Hope it all goes to plan this time, My name is Phil, I am 38, And don’t work any more, I have Multple Sclerosis, Always been mad on planes, Mostly world war two stuff.
