MEA and Emirates flying to Brazil

I read something in the media saying that MEA and Emirates are considering to fly to Brazil.

MEA would fly to São Paulo (GRU)
Emirates would fly to Rio de Janeiro (GIG)

Does someone know something about it?

On the actual Emirates website, it has a section showing possible future long haul services including Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires using its Airbus A340 – 500 aircraft. It will probably be a long time before this happens.

I also heard about possible MEA service to Sao Paulo but I read that on the airliners.net forum and that isnt the most reliable of sources – rumors flying round like you wouldnt beleive!
