The Original Dustoff

It might be noted that COL Novosel is usually credited with being the original callsign “Dustoff” and that the generic “Dustoff” in reference to medivacs was/is in honour of his bravery.

Brave men both. Amazing what those dust-off pilots went through. Not unique in that they flew highly dangerous missions as did WW2 pilots but the hours they put in without a break is praiseworthy in its own right. As was said earlier, just a shame they had to be there at all

A very brave man indeed like many others over there. Shame he had to be there in the first place though.
