Hi all,
Does anyone know what time this flypast is scheduled for. I want to go with my children to see it, apart from the flypast they love cycling around the perimeter track and looking in the shelters etc. Many thanks
Gerry

Hi Gerry,
Many thanks for the reply.I was not actually with the plotters but with the pilots outside the bell tent, doing the scrambles etc.
If you hear of anyone who has pctures of us or the aircraft please let me know.
You can contact me off forum if you want re-pictures(h.keetch@ntlworld.com).
Thanks
Howard.

Hi Howard,
I didn’t take my camera in the rush to get out and on my way. (child screaming!!).
I did see you at the Portcullis club and stood and watched as the ladies and gents were reenacting a raid on the plotting table, very enjoyable.
I did manage to get a few seconds of film on my phone – although it is poor quality. You are welcome to it although I’m not sure how I could send it.

Hi Peter,
It went very well. There were two aircraft that took part from the Memorial flight – a Spitfire and a Hurricane. I was pleased to see a really good turnout, probably 400 people. I went for a pint in the Portcullis club afterwards and spent a while talking to an elderly gent that was with 501 Squadron at Kenley in 1940.
The air cadet gliders were flying as well despite the rather strong wind.
Best wishes
Gerry
HI Gerry,
I don’t suppose you managed to take any pictures of the Spit and Hurri did you?.Any chance of posting some or even getting copies(paid for obviously).
I was one of the 6 WW2 RAF Living History chaps who were displaying near the Portcullis Club. Then we went to the Tribute(a lift in a jeep!) and paid our respects with the laying of a simple cross.
This was followed by pictures taken of us on the pen wall behind the tribute, some pictures taken by the Croydon Advertiser(watch out for it).
I think the day was crowned by the Spit and Hurri beating up the airfield at what seemed to be 50-60 feet approx.
If you managed to take any pics from the day and could pass any on to me i would be most gratefull.
Many thanks
Howard Keetch(‘OPS 39-45’ WW2 RAF Living History Group).

How did it go Gerry? I was born and bred across the valley in Old Coulsdon and as a kid used to attend the airshows there in the 1970’s as well as watch the gliders from my bedroom window. If I hadn’t have been on-call today, I’d have taken the trip back… what took part in the flypast?
cheers
Pete
