Early Sunday morning, fire broke out at Universal Studios in Universal City, California, USA, near Los Angeles. Among the facilities reported destroyed are the video vault (but not the film vault), the New York City outdoor set (which doubled for older sections of LA in TV series Dragnet and Adam-12), and the Main Street Square set, which figured in such different films as Abbot and Costello Go To Mars, Live Fast, Die Young, and Back To The Future.

Even if it is “just” an open mall, don’t miss the Universal City Walk either. I’m sure they’ll enjoy the old toys place. (stuff like you found in the 70’s and 80’s: friction motors, …)

I have to say, the place is amazing. If you are in the area, take the studio tour… You’ll never watch a movie the same way anymore.
Done the tour several times over the years with my kids when they were younger.. hope to take my Grandkids there shortly
