I have,gathering dust,in my loft a quantity of Merlin data plates.Various marks,from 25 to 266,including35,113,114,and 68a(one with log cards).Question is,do they have any value,if so how much?Apologies for the poor quality photos.

Hello Geoff, I’d be tempted by some small B36 bits. I am in the process of getting the accident report from the States. They were very big props on a B36!

Forgot to mention-the B36 parts consist of Curtiss Wright electric propeller internals, mainly gears, bearings and odd shaped valves!

I will draw up an inventory, hopefully later this week.To clarify, the scrappie was contracted to dismantle the engines(and the B36 parts) and the metal once catagorised, was returned to Rolls Royce or wherever. The Lincolns 68a’s were delivered as power eggs complete and I also have some small parts to include a mesh ice guard, and sundry fittings. If there is sufficient value in the lot,I would probably sell to put the money towards another project.

Sorry for the cheeky message…£30-£70 each Merlin plate. Please let me/us know about the plates and B36 stuff as there would be a few worthy homes on the forum!!!

Well I have no idea what they would go for, but I would fancy one myself.
It would be one step closer to getting a full engine!
(this is my first ever post on this forum! I thank you)

Interesting stuff Geoff. Would love to see the B36 bits, visited that site a couple of times. Surprising it was scrapped so locally, or were those bits liberated!

Not guilty, your honour. These plates emanated from a long retired scrappie near Gloucester about 30 years ago.I also have various patent plates and a quantity of propeller internals from the B36 that crashed near Lacock.About a ton of Merlin parts made their way to Coningsby from the same source. The contents of his workshop were truly amazing(spares for 1920’s Rolls Royces anyone?)The log cards I do have show just over 31 hours usage on Lincolns before scrapping-some engines were reputedly brand new….
