Guys, I’ve got a little brass plate that came from a short length of corroded engine mount tubing, which I have reason to believe was for a Merlin. I’m interested in knowing what the numbers on the plate can tell me- ‘FM138770’. There’s also a partly broken away ‘AG 61A’. Anyone, anything? Thanks!

The number will pertain to a specific assembly or sub assembly which may or may not be a complete aircraft.
I could not quite read the inspection stamp lower details but that will tell you where it was built !rgds baz
Can see the little round stamps more clearly now- they say ‘FM 504’.

That’s a shame, but not unexpected. Thanks for the info.

Hi the Battle has the same type of data plate on its mounts and cockpit structure , as far as i have being able to find out there is no tie up between it and the aircraft serial.
cheers dave

I’ve given it a bit of a clean…the top circular stamp seems to say either FM, BM or EM, 804. The faint stamping in the box to the centre of the pic above looks like ‘?&P 112’.

That’s a great start, cheers! Did the following number then pertain to a particular aircraft at all- I don’t just mean the type, I mean an individual airframe?
