Merlin engine stand

yes, well spotted Anon
it was ordered as a Merlin II by the Danish Government in 1938 but buy the time it left the factory it was upgraded to a III.
it was delivered to Denmark along with 15 others as spares, but as the War loomed and the Germans occupied Denmark they were never used.
this is one of two that survived

all the plates are in Danish.

Is that not a Merlin III, dawn patrol?

I bolted it to save time welding it and being sat on top spreads the weight, no other reason.

Looks up to the task, but why is the piece at the front bolted in place instead of welded like the rest of it?

Or putting an engine on it!

don’t make the mistake i made by buying ‘Heavy Duty’ wheels off ebay……..you really need them to take at least 600kg.

so i have to change the wheels now !

Does this help? It’s 1/4in wall 3×3 with 1/4in plate on top of the uprights.

Rocketeer, we are getting organized to dismantle Lancaster KB 882 and we need to build 4 Merlin engine stands, we would really appreciate a copy of any drawings you might have on the subject.
