Merlin on display, Fort Perch Rock Museum

The Warplane Wreck Investigation Group lads have put the first parts of Spitfire P7533 on display. Doug Darrach Jnr and John Molyneux launched the exhibition for the good people of the Wirral who had helped make the dig possible ( and a couple of forum members). They’ve put out the merlin and boss on an impressive welded frame, as well as a selection of lumps of cockpit and fuselage. Amongst these is a section of starboard cockpit side with a nicely patched bullet hole. There is still plenty to be sorted through and amongst one of the sacks was the Coffman starter reloading pull. I don’t think the wire lashed round it would pass muster these days. The museum is definately back on track and is open weekends and school holidays, although I wouldn’t turn up too early in the morning.
