I am currently rebuilding a Merlin XX for a customer, there is a photo album of it which I keep updated:

Terry Jones has just acquired a serviceable Bristol Hercules, a 264, I think. The photos do not give much of an impression of its size!
As some of you will already know, Robin Byers has been in hospital on and off for the past 6 months, and has therefore been “grounded”. We all wish him a speedy recovery and are looking forward to having him, and his Merlin, out with us again next year. In the meantime, we have been running his engine at a few events in the South, and managed to break it whilst at Duxford, oops. It is therefore being repaired down there, mostly by Steve Kingman to whom I am very grateful as I would have struggled to do much of it on my own, oh, and the small fact that Steve was running it when it went U/S, unlucky there mate! 🙁
Robin is blissfully happy of course that his Merlin is getting all this attention and he doesn`t have to lift a finger!
The engine I have been working on, although not this year as yet, is the Merlin VIII, which is virtually ready to build up, the sub-assemblies are all ready except the crankcase. Once the current job is rebuilt and I am working on the installation, the VIII can go on the stand and be finished asap because until I have done that I cannot start on the Jumo 211, which is something I am really looking forward to hearing.
