The latest in the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum’s continuing series of aviation lectures is sure to appeal to all those with an interest in classic fighters.
Well known Warbird pilot Charlie Brown will be giving his account of the planning and execution of the operation to fly a Hurricane and Spitfire to Malta to display over Grand Harbour in Sept 2005, the first time that these two types had been seen over the Island since 1952.
As pilot of the Spitfire during this journey, Charlie will describe the whole trip and the ecstatic welcome they were met with on Malta.
The date is Saturday 8th March 2008, with a start time of 7.00 p.m. The venue is the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum, in Doncaster. Tickets are available priced at £7.50 and it is essential to pre-book as there is a limit of 55 seats for this event.
For further information and to book tickets, telephone the Museum on 01302 761616.
I’ve got my place reserved so I’ll see you all there.

Merlins Over Malta update
Dear All,
This seems like a good opportunity to announce that Merlins Over Malta have handed over the remaining funds left over from the project to the following organisations.
[*]The Mark Hanna Research Fellowship
[*]Children in Need
[*]Malta Aviation Museum
The Merlins Over Malta team (Clive, Linda, Glenn, Howard, Derek and Vic) would like to thank the readers of FlyPast for the support they offered us by donating to the fund and for buying the Corgi sets, Gerald Coulson prints and the other items that we sold to raise funds.
Once again, thank you for your support and enjoy Charlie’s account of his contribution to the project.
Glenn
