The Merlins Over Malta Spitfire and Hurricane are due to depart from Duxford tomorrow (14th September) at 15:10 (local time).
From Duxford they will fly to Jersey where they are taking part in the Jersey International Air Show. They will then fly from one small island that was occupied to another small island that was very nearly occupied!
This will be the first chance to view/photograph the pair together so if you can make it, please come along to see us off!
The details of the route and progress can be found on the Flight Update page of the website.
Details of the events on Malta can be found in the September 2005 page.
For those of you who didn’t see the unveiling of the production Merlins Over Malta Corgi set (Damien was luck enough to get the scoop of the first flight of the pair!) photos have been added to the Corgi page of the shop.

Once again thank you for your support and we hope to see you either in Malta or when we get back at the October air show (where we will be resting!).

“Zimmer borrowed on this occasion from Jack Voules, who was Adrian Warburton’s fitter on the photo-recce Marylands.”
He even knows the provenance of veteran Zimmer frames? What a guy!!!

That’s a VERY nice High Definition video camera you have there!
Sconner,
Yes indeed and the owner, Jack Voules, was keeping a very close eye on it, just out of frame. 🙂

Confirmation here/last paragraph (as if it were needed!) about who were the real stars of the week’s events, along with the veterans themselves, of course.
Is it me (???) I can’t believe the dearth of information/interest from the Maltese internet based news media up until this story. …I hope the actual newspapers are doing a bit better!
More to the point is there anywhere on the internet showing decent pictures of the arrival in Grand Harbour last Thursday, apart from the Malta Aviation Museum website?
PS: What’s happened to the FlightlineMalta website lately? …It seems send my CPU to 100%, throw my whole laptop wobbly and show about 5% of the site; or is it just me again?!?

We did it!
The aircraft are now safely tucked away at the airport and we are going to have a good rest. I’llpost photos when I can…
Was there a spare pilot and ground crew waiting posed as soon as they landed?
With fuel and capabilites to re-arm the aircraft as soon as they stopped moving..
So as to provide CAP, as we know the opposition is aware of their arrival and is on its way!
Or am I 60 odd years out of date?

well done you have all done a fantastic job on the Merlins Over Malta.
Can i ask who owns the Hurricane ,Spitfire and the Piper Seneca. And will the blue paint scheme stay on the Spitfire hope it does it looks brilliant.
James
The Spitfire and Hurricane are both owned by the Historic Aircraft Collection and based at Duxford.
The blue paint scheme is only temporary, for the purposes of this trip.
The Cessna T303 Crusader !!! Is owned and operated by Roche Bentley. He’s the gentleman at present on Malta with one of the biggest smiles around, that is after Clive’s and Charlie’s.

Green with envy and, difficult as it is to believe, even grumpier than usual.

The family Merlin70 will be headed off to gatport airwick for a redeye flight to Malta. ETA very silly o’clock.
A number of special treats lined up to suit the whole family.
Best wishes to the MoM team for achieving the first part of a very ambitious programme, also DB and Taifun plus the RAF’s inimitable Reds.
Look forward to all the events and reading about each others experiences on the island. This will be a truly memorable time from which I hope to be able to post my own contributions live from where it is at.

Have fun you guys, sounds like it’s going to be one hell of a show, if only it was in two years time instead…
