Simply breath taking… (and very highly recommended)
Well done to the team! It was well worth the wait 🙂

Just watched my DVD for the second time…(I know I know but TV is trash! 😮 )
I think its only really just dawned on me that this project was truely unique, I cant think of anything similar that has ever been attempted, all this the effort of a handful of people…Thing is, will we ever see its likes again? 🙁
Thanks Russ!
Watched it on Thursday – fantastic stuff!
Glad you enjoyed it!
A year ago yesterday the aircraft arrived back at Duxford (as seen in the closing credits of the DVD 🙂 )

An excellent programme, with a good mix of flying and the occasion of remembrance, which is why the project was born. We owe a lot to the gutsy Maltese people.

Subverting the thread just a smidgen, what would be Forumites ‘Fantasy Returns’?
If you could take a current (or imminent) airworthy historic flyer somewhere, where would you go, and why?
May I kick off with (1) Sally B. to the CAF show, to let the Yanks know their sacrifice is still honoured (2) XH 558 to Oshkosh, just for the hell of it.

Watched the video last night — excellent,. excellent stuff. The footage over the harbour is just excellent! Aside : I was pleasantly surprised to see Roche Bentley being featured as one of the ‘safety plane’ pilots. I knew him when he started the MG Owners Club about 25 years ago (or more) !!

A year ago today…
At this time (15:30), exactly a year ago today (14th September)…
A Spitfire, a Hurricane and a Cessna 303 departed Duxford heading for the Mediterranean island of Malta.

(thanks Nick for the photos!)
Thank you to everyone on here who helped us!
Glenn and the rest of the MoM team…

Picked mine up on Sunday as well, for any one who wasnt lucky enough to be there, buy this dvd. It is worth the cost just to see the flying shots. I was lucky enough to be in the Upper Barrackas gardens when they came through Grand Harbour and i would say that this was one if not the best/most nostalgic image i have ever seen of a Spit.
Dont know if its my imagination but i get the feeling that i saw something special that day. Buy this dvd.

Merlins over Malta
Yes, mine arrived this morning and I had a long and enjoyable lunch hour remembring that weekend last year in Malta, standing in the Gardens overlooking Grand Harbour.
Great video, memorable scenes, great flying shots. A must for all Merlin fans!!!
Well done the team.

its funny to see the mention of malta , i’ve just got off the phone from an ex airforce friend of mine who’s father was in the navy on the malta convoys. after his death last year his diaries were found detailing one of his convoys, and they are now in the museum there. she mentioned that only last week his freedom of valetta certificate came through.
what i didn’t realise until she told me was his diaries were put up on the BBC website by a local legion member, and are now up for the nation to see.

Yep, managed to get my signed copy at Duxford on Sunday too.
Well worth the wait.
Great air to air shots.
And it keeps the missus happy too as Martin Shaws in it!
Is one of the signatures his on the front or not? Can’t make them all out.
Well done anyway.

It’s a very good watch!
I thoroughly enjoyed it!
The content is very nicely balanced and interlaced between the history side of things and the epic event itself.
Oh how I remember it well!
It seems hardly a few months ago, not a year!
